My Work at Reckoning Press

“[O]ne of those speculative fiction magazines that I get genuinely excited to read because the kind of stories they publish are always some concept or execution I’ve never seen before.”

—Alex Brown, reviewer for Tor.com on Reckoning.

“Neurodivergent folks live with differences and difficulties that shouldn’t be dismissed, but likewise, with determination and daring that cannot be disregarded…. We have been doing, all along, the very things we continue to be told we can’t.”
—C.G. Aubrey, Editor

Featuring reprints by neurodivergent creators from Reckoning’s first decade, the works here confront confronting current realities in their own unique ways, creating connections, building bridges across communication chasms, and reminding us that we neurodivergent voices now more than ever.

Reckoning 9, edited by C.G. Aubrey, Priya Chand, and Catherine Rockwood, tackles the immense grief of living at odds with the rest of the natural world, the courage of those who resist our slide into violence and extinction, and the belligerent hope of the natural world’s endurance, of which we humans are a part.

It is such a humbling thing to have worked on this particular issue. It is timely to me, as perhaps all grief work is in a world that does not allow us to hold space, or time for that matter, for each other.

Reckoning 9 is available in ebook form with Weightless Books and Amazon. You can order the print edition [HERE]. You can also read for free online at Reckoning 9.

Reckoning 8 (2024), edited by by Knar Gavin and Waverly SM, “engages with the essential toil, struggle, pain, triumph, loss, and persistence of resisting the patriarchofascist, corporate-captured extractive state.”-Reckoning.

I was honored to be included among Reckoning’s editorial staff for this powerful, important issue.

Reckoning 8 is available for free online, and in ebook form with Weightless Books and Amazon. You can find the print edition [HERE].

Reckoning 7 (2023), edited by Octavia Cade, Priya Chand, and Tim Fab-Eme, focuses on oceans and the global water cycle.

I am over the moon and sea to be included in Reckoning 7. My eco-justice short story, “A Predatory Transcience” is very near and dear to my heart. Set in the beautiful marsh of South Carolina’s Folly Island, the traditional land of the Kusso People, Transcience features omnivorous sharks and a plus-sized anti-hero.

Reckoning 7 is available online for free and in ebook form with Weightless Books and Amazon. You can find the print edition [HERE].
